A class action settlement, known as In Re Volkswagen Timing Chain Product Liability Litigation, Civil Action No. 16-2765 (JLL)(JAD) was granted final approval by the Court on December 14, 2018. The Settlement resolves a lawsuit related to the timing chain system in certain Volkswagen and Audi vehicles purchased or leased in the United States and Puerto Rico.
You are included in the Volkswagen Timing Chain Settlement if you are a person or entity who purchased or leased a Settlement Class Vehicle. A Settlement Class Vehicle is defined as certain 2008 through 2014 model year VW and Audi vehicles, as designated by the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), imported and distributed by Volkswagen Group of America Inc. for sale or lease in the United States or Puerto Rico. The following year and model vehicles, whose VINs are included in the VIN lookup database, have been identified as Settlement Class Vehicles:

If your Settlement Class Vehicle is within certain specified time and mileage parameters, you may be eligible for an extension of your vehicle’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty to cover future repairs related to a timing chain or timing chain tensioner failure.
